Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit is known as an Indian actress, best known for her performances in the films Beta Saajan and Hum Hain Koun..! Her career began in the early 1980s. Her role as Anil Kapoor in the Tezaab film became incredibly acclaimed. In the following film, she starred in the film Dil where she co-starred on the screen alongside Aamir Khan. Born into a middle-class family in Mumbai she was able to learn dance as a child. Her first attempt at acting was as a youngster and struggled for some time as the majority of her initial films failed. Her breakthrough came when she finally had success and then went on to be one of the top actresses in the Indian film industry. She took a break from her acting career after her marriage, but returned into the entertainment business. Recently, she was an integral part of Gulaab Gang about Indian women. Dixit received 15 nominations to win Filmfare Awards. She won 8 of them. Padma Shri is the fourth highest civilian distinction in India. She is known for her involvement in social work too.
